"Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce Organizes New Year's Day Polar Bear Dip to Break World Record"

The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Blaine Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 and Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism, is attempting to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for the largest Polar Bear Dip on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, at Birch Bay, Washington.

The previous record was broken in Norway, with 3,134 participants.

Birch Bay is aiming to surpass this record and make history.

Participants can register, show up early, plunge at noon, or volunteer in various roles.

The event will draw thousands of participants and spectators.
